Process

We make our charging structure totally transparent and incorporate two break points in our fee structure.
The following structure is for residential clients being served by one of our design professionals. Commercial contracts, oversees commissions and large building schemes are subject to bespoke quotation.

Design Stage
Initial Meeting - £150.00 inc Vat for properties within a 50 mile radius, prices may vary for properties outside this area depending on location. (up to 2 Hours) An interior designer will travel to see you at your property and spend time investigating your requirements, discussing your brief and answering any questions you may have regarding our services.
Presentation of ideas  - £300.00 plus Vat. This is where an outline of the colour scheme, materials and overall feel of the design will be presented. This can be followed by other meetings, until all aspects of the design are agreed upon. The designer will then present a sample board for each scheme of all agreed fabrics, wall finishes, floor coverings and furniture requirements as discussed in your initial meeting.
Reimbursement of Fees – The £300 presentation fee will only be reimbursed in full with goods/orders, placed over £3000.00 plus Vat.
3D and architectural Drawings – Architectural and colour rendered 3D drawings of room schemes can be provided if required.
Sourcing of furniture, light fittings and accessories - This is recommended to achieve the full implementation of the bespoke designed interior. We will undertake the sourcing to ensure the design ideal is implemented.

Process Stage
Break Point One You may choose to implement the designs yourself at this stage by using the design materials and drawings supplied by us to date. Alternatively, you may wish to carry on to the quoting stage...
Ben Huckerby Design Project Outline - £300 plus vat. This is where the Ben Huckerby personnel will attend the site and plan an outline of the work that needs to be undertaken, with suggested layouts, materials and building techniques specified. You will receive a full detailed quotation with all of this information.
Break Point Two – This is the next point that you may choose to opt out of BHD project management as you are fully equipped to find, appoint and manage your own contractor using our quotation as a bench mark.

Supply Stage
Supply of Materials (Residential) - A detailed quotation is supplied for the client’s approval prior to the placement of any purchase orders. This is in the form of a shopping list presented to the client. The client is free to remove or add additional items at this point.
Supply of Materials (Commercial) - We charge a negotiated handling commission based on a percentage of the total cost price of the supply contract.

Payment of Account
This is how the team at Ben Huckerby Design ask for payment:
Design Fees - The initial design fee of £150 is payable prior to site visit.  This can be paid by cheque, cash, bank transfer or credit card. This payment must be issued prior to the site visit. A receipt will be issued though the postal system.
Deposits - Upon acceptance of the Quotation, 60% of the total order must be paid. The next 30% of the total price stated in the Order Pack must be paid within 30 days from the payment of the Deposit. The final 10% must be paid 7 days after written confirmation from BHD.
VAT - All fees and goods supplied are subject to VAT at the current rate.

Other ways BHD can help...
If you are not ready to commit to a full interior design scheme at this moment in time BHD can offer the following consultation fee structures on full house builds or re-designs to ensure you fall in love with your home from square one -

1. Liaising with you to oversee and amend architects drawings to ensure the house flows effortlessly both ergonomically and aesthetically. This can be done through either meetings at your home address but preferably within our design studio at Pure Design. On a full house project we expect this process to take no longer than 10 design hours.

2. Using the amended plans, compiling a comprehensive floor plan showing furniture positions and concept mood boards to accompany the furniture layouts. This may seem premature at this point but is crucial as it leads to the correct installation of the electrical circuits. We will also meet and liaise with other trades such as joiners, bathroom and kitchen designers to explain the brief and collate information, ready to present to you. This would take approximately 60 hours.

3. Compiling accurate specification sheets in line with your tastes and interior needs. Choosing fabrics, wall coverings and other soft furnishings and preparing a full room by room quotation. This would take approximately 10 hours. At this point you are in a position to source the specified furniture yourselves, should you decide to do so. Obviously to achieve the truly seamless interior scheme complete with accessories it is preferable and in most cases better value for money for BHD to source in-house.

4. The ordering of products, wall coverings, artwork, accessories etc. Dressing the interior schemes of your choice. This is provided free of charge for BHD clients.

Along the way you may choose to decorate rooms in order of preference, but you can feel safe in the knowledge that we as designers will keep the whole interior as one overall scheme, giving each room its own personality whilst making sure the décor flows effortlessly through the use of coordinating colour palates.

The estimated total design package would take approximately 80 design hours at £35 plus VAT an hour which equates to £2800 plus VAT.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to give a member of the team a call in the studio on 0113 244 5446.
