The owners of Britain’s Best Home, Terry George and Michael Rothwell, bought this stunning, if not slightly run down, beach house in Tangier as a second home and magical getaway back in 2006.
Previously owned for 20 years by one of their best friends, the beach house had an uncanny English feel to it, home to antiques galore and traditional English décor. Terry and Michael wanted to keep the traditional features in the property but add a Moroccan twist to fit into the idyllic setting boasting stunning sea views and make better use of the space.
It’s something topical at the moment and today I’m going to be looking at improving rather than moving. It needn’t all be doom and gloom so let’s take the approach of injecting a lease of life into something old to create something new… well let’s face it, it’s worked for Joan Rivers!
As simple as it may seem, DIY, the option taken by many, can prove to be a drain on resources and often for very little gain. Amateur makeovers can quickly decrease the value of homes when the main driving forces are boredom and the desire for change, rather than a planned approach to a home re-vamp that’s more than just cosmetic.
